Provenance
This work was delivered by Simba Maphapho in a previous professional role before the establishment of Scientifique Analytics. It is presented to demonstrate relevant founder delivery experience and should not be interpreted as a Scientifique Analytics client engagement.
Business problem
Disconnected lending processes can create repeated manual data capture, slow application processing, inconsistent credit decisions, poor lead visibility, duplicated work across systems and manual Credit Reference Bureau processes. They can also separate credit decisions from downstream core-banking processing.
The objective was to create a more connected lending workflow rather than merely build an analytical model.
Founder role
Simba was involved in building and developing:
- loan-onboarding functionality for annuity customers;
- a credit decision engine;
- a lead-management system;
- CRB integration through APIs; and
- core-banking integration through APIs.
Loan onboarding
The onboarding tool supported the capture and progression of information required to onboard and assess annuity lending customers within a connected application process.
Credit decision engine
The decision engine applied credit criteria and decision logic consistently within the application process without exposing proprietary rules.
Lead management
The lead manager supported prospective customers through the lending and application pipeline, improving visibility between initial interest and formal onboarding.
CRB and core-banking integration
CRB API integration allowed relevant credit-bureau information to flow into the lending process instead of relying entirely on disconnected manual bureau steps. Core-banking API integration connected the lending workflow to the downstream banking environment.
Implementation outcome
The implementation created a more integrated lending process connecting lead management, customer onboarding, external credit information, credit decisioning and downstream banking processes. It reduced reliance on disconnected processes and established a foundation for more consistent and scalable lending decisions.
