Provenance
This work was delivered by Simba Maphapho in a previous professional role before the establishment of Scientifique Analytics. It is presented to demonstrate relevant founder delivery experience and should not be interpreted as a Scientifique Analytics client engagement.
Business problem
Effective collections management requires more than reporting on customers in arrears. Collections teams need practical mechanisms to identify and prioritise accounts, understand portfolio behaviour, support collections decisions, track customer and account activity, and apply analytical information consistently.
The work operated within an African lending environment where internal behavioural data and locally relevant information were important to impairment management and collections decisions.
Founder role
The delivery included:
- IFRS 9 and expected-credit-loss analysis
- impairment and portfolio-monitoring analytics
- collections analytics
- design and development of a customised collections solution
- translation of analytical requirements into operational functionality
- implementation support
Collections decision system
The customised web-based collections solution moved analytical information closer to operational decision-making instead of leaving insights solely within analyst reports. It supported collections users with relevant portfolio and account information alongside practical collections-workflow requirements.
Operational implementation
The implementation connected data, risk analytics and IFRS 9 or portfolio analysis to collections-decision requirements, an operational application and business use. It demonstrates delivery across the full path from analytical requirement to working system.
Outcome
The work strengthened the use of credit-risk information within impairment management and collections operations and demonstrated how analytical outputs could be operationalised through a working collections application.
